Tips

  1. PRICE. Of course our customers are very interested in what the total cost will be. We seek to always get you the best price available to transport your vehicle at the time of the request. There are many factors that go into that price, such as the total weight of a piece of machinery being transported or the beam of a larger boat that can significantly skew the price higher. This is seperate from what the fluctuation of gas or availability of drivers is at the time. So once we get a request we look for a driver who might be in the area who may not have a load to return to their original location, to get you the best price.
  2. PAYMENT METHOD. We offer both ACH and CC as a form of payment for your transport. Full payment is required at the time of booking, as it secures your delivery. When using a credit card a fee of between 2%-4% may be assessed based on the card type. This fee is to pay the card processor. The quote given to you to transport your vehicle doesn’t include processing fees. To avoid the fee please choose ACH as your payment option, which is free of charge.
  3. CONTRACT. YOU SHOULD READ YOUR AGREEMENT! Please read the agreement carefully so you understand what to expecting. While there is usually a deliver date given a window or range of days before or after will be alloted to the driver. This allows for unexpected events that can and do happen while delivering your vehicle. This is to say, the date of expected delivery is not a guarantee. There will usually be a window of time from the date a transport is secured with payment that you may cancel. Though with that, you will be responsible for a cancellation fee. This may be a fixed amount or a percentage of the order. When ordering be sure of your order and be flexible in pick up and delivery times and days.
  4. INSURANCE. Your carrier will have insurance to protect the vehicle from damage & theft while in their possession. Their insurance may be primary or in some cases secondary to the insurance you carry. Their are limits to the coverage which are usually between $35,000 – $50,000. If your vehicle has a replacement cost above that you might consider additional coverage. Your carrier will provide a copy of their insurance upon request, and we suggest you do so. Do not leave or store additional items of value in the vehicle as they may not be protected in the case of theft or destruction in an accident.
  5. PICK-UP AND DELIVERY DATES. The date you will be given for pick-up is a window of time not a fixed time & date. This window is usually three days, please ask or check your agreement to confirm your window if it isn’t explicitly given at the time you book. During certain seasons of the year, know and predictable migrations happen, such as the beginning of summer or winter when many are moving north or south. These cause the window time to be extended, as the number of trucks and drivers cannot change enough to accomodate this mass moving of people and vehicles. In the case where you DO need precise pick-up or delivery dates and times, many carriers can hold your vehicle at a terminal for an additional fee. If this is your situation, please inquire prior to booking for instructions.
  6. REFERENCES. All transport companies are fully vetted in order to be in our system. The company is required by law to vet in many ways each and everyone of their drivers. Also the driver themselves is subject to regulation and random inspections while on the road. With all of that said we cannot guarantee the quality or performance of the individual driver or company at the time of your booking. We recommend that once a quote is provided you inquire about the company selected to do your transport and due your own due diligence if this of great concern to you.
  7. TURNING OVER THE VEHICLE. When the driver arrives to secure your vehicle for transport, your vehicle will be inspected by them much like when you rent a car. If it is not freely given or gone over with you ask for an “Original Inspection Report.” The report will contain a number of pertinent details about your vehicle at the time the driver took possession of it. The best suggestion is to go over it with the driver at the time of pick-up so you are both on the same page with what it contains. Upon delivery to its final destination this report should be reviewed to ensure any changes during transport are addressed.
  8. ACCEPTING YOUR VEHICLE FOR DELIVERY. Go over the inspection with your driver in as much time as you feel comfortable. They will usually ask you to go over the vehicle with them, but may be more in a rush than you are to get it on the road. Be thorough and make sure anything noted you agree with. Doing this will help eliminate any questions or confusion if the car should have a change in condition at the time of delivery to its final destination.  If this isn’t done and signed by the driver at the time of pick-up, you may have very little recourse when the vehicle is finally delivered to it’s final destination.
  9. IF DAMAGE SHOULD OCCUR. Many many transports of this sort are done every single day in America, the vast majority without issue. However as with anything, incidents do occur. Many times even without the knowledge of the driver. They often carry multiple vehicles at the same time and may not notice damage cause by road debris. If damaged in noted upon acceptance of the vehicle, note in on the inspection report and have the driver sign it. Then contact the transport company the steps to submit a claim to be reimbursed for the damage.
  10. DISPUTES. Transport companies strong economic and reputational incentives to ensure you are satisfied with the service provided. There are also a great deal of regulations in the transportation industry that help monitor and report incidents. If you do feel as though, the driver or another company representative didn’t treat you well, the first course of action would be to attempt to resolve the issue with a supervisor at the company. In almost all circumstances a reasonable and verifiable issue will be resolved quickly. If for some reason it cannot be resolved, you best course of action would be to seek counsel on how to resolve the issue with the company and in court if needed.
